Chor Levantate e.V.
Zum Selbstverständnis unserer Kulturarbeit gehört es, humanitäres Engagement mit spannenden Konzertprojekten zu unterstützen. Unsere Spendenaufrufe gehen ebenso wie ein Teil unserer Konzerterlöse kontinuierlich an humanitäre Projekte im In-und Ausland, wie beispielsweise an die Städtepartnerschaft Jinotega und die Barenboim-Said-Stiftung.
„Levantate“– Erhebe Dich – ist ein Lied des chilenischen Komponisten Victor Jara, ein Appell gegen politische Unterdrückung in Lateinamerika. 1984 gegründet und im ersten Jahr aus 10 bis 15 Mitgliedern bestehend, hatte der Chor Auftritte bei Veranstaltungen von amnesty international, dem Dritte-Welt-Laden Ulm oder bei Aktionen der damaligen Friedensbewegung. Das erste abendfüllende Konzert 1986 trug den Titel: „Die Revolution ist vor allem eine Frage der Liebe – Lieder und Texte zum Widerstand in Südamerika und Südafrika“.
Seit 1990 ist Hartmut Premendra Mayer Dirigent des Chores. Die musikalischen Projekte sind nun umfangreicher, für größere Werke werden professionelle Musiker und Solisten engagiert. Das Repertoire der letzten Jahre umfasst folgende Werke:
- Carl Orff Carmina Burana
- Mikis Theodorakis Canto General
- Johann-Sebastian Bach Magnificat u.v.m.
Im Jahre 2006 fand mit der Chorgemeinschaft Ulm eine Konzertreise nach Japan statt.
Wir fördern außerdem die aktuelle Chorliteratur mit Kompositionsaufträgen an unseren Dirigenten und Komponisten Hartmut Premendra Mayer, die vom Kulturausschuss der Stadt Ulm unterstützt wurden:

- 2007 Mein Glaubensbekenntnis nach Albert Einstein
Weitere Planungen:
- 2009 Gemeinschaftskonzert mit tibetischen Nonnen,
- 8.11.2009 Joseph Haydn Harmoniemesse mit dem Kanon Orchester aus Kagoshima, Japan.
- Für 2010 haben wir begonnen eine Konzertreise nach Chile zu organisieren, bei der es neben kulturellem Austausch mit Chören/Musikern vor Ort auch Gelegenheit geben wird Eindrücke vom Land zu gewinnen.

Choir Levantate (registered non-profit association)
We understand our cultural work as a way to support humanitarian engagement by interesting concert projects. Therefore we regularly appeal to our audience for funds and continually donate parts of our concert surpluses to humanitarian projects in Germany as well as abroad, such as the town twinning between Ulm and Jinotega and the Barenboim-Said-Foundation.
The choir was founded in 1984 and named after the song „Levantate“– Stand up – written by the Chilean composer Victor Jara. It is a call against political suppression in Latin America. In its first year the choir consisted of about fifteen members. Concerts were given at events organized by Amnesty International, the Third-World-Shop Ulm and the former peace movement. The first full-length concert took place in 1986 and was called "Revolution is Above All a Question of Love" – songs and texts about the resistance in South America and South Africa.
Since 1990 Hartmut Premendra Mayer is the conductor of our choir. The dimensions of our musical projects have grown. Accordingly we now engage professional musicians as well as solo singers. The repertoire comprises by now works such as Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, Mikis Theodorakis' Canto General, Johann-Sebastian Bach's Magnificat and more. In 2006 we undertook a concert tour through Japan as a joint undertaking with two other choirs under the lead of Hartmut Premendra Mayer, calling ourselves Ulm Choirs Union.
Composition
We also support the creation of new choir literature by commissioning compositions to our conductor and composer Hartmut Premendra Mayer. They are funded by the cultural department of the town of Ulm:

- November 8, 2009 Joseph Haydn's Harmony Mass together with the Kanon Orchestra from Kagoshima, Japan.
For May 2010 we are engaged in the organization of a concert trip through Chile. The aim is the cultural exchange with other choirs and musicians as well as the opportunity to experience the Chilean culture.

El Coro Levantate
Una de las intenciones elementales del coro es, aparte del placer de cantar, dedicarse a su trabajo cultural apoyando compromisos humanitarios con su conciertos. Las colectas y una parte de los beneficios de los conciertos fueron donados para proyectos humanitarios en el interior del país y en el extrangero, como por ejemplo el hermanamiento de las ciudádes Ulm-Jinotega (Städtepartnerschaft Ulm-Jinotega) y la Fundación Barenboim-Said (Barenboim-Said-Stiftung).
“Levantate“, la canción del compositor chileno Victor Jara, es un llamado en contra de la opresión política en Latinoamérica. Fundado en el año 1984, el Coro Levántate al principio se componía de 10 a 15 miembros, participaba en eventos de “Amnistía International“, organizaciones de apoyo al tercer mundo y en actividades de movimientos de paz de aquel entonces. Su primer concierto oficial en 1986 tenía el titulo: “La revolución es antes que nada una cuestión de amor“, con canciones y textos de la resistencia en Latinoamérica y Sudáfrica.
Desde 1990 Hartmut Premendra Mayer es el director del Coro Levantate. Actualmente, los proyectos musicales son más extensos y en grandes obras participan músicos y solistas profesionales. El repertorio de los últimos años se compone de las obras siguientes:
- Carmina Burana, de Carl Orff
- Canto General, con textos de Pablo Neruda y música de Mikis Theodorakis
- Magnificat, de Johann Sebastian Bach
- Requiem, de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
… y muchas mas.
En el año 2006 la “Comunidad Coral De Ulm“ hace una gira en el Japón. Esa Comunidad se compone del Coro Levantate, del Coro Mixto de Lehr y del Coro Masculino de Weidenstetten , que se reúnen para conciertos grandes bajo la dirección de H.P.Mayer.
El Coro Levantate incentiva también la literatura coral actual, con pedidos de composición a su director y compositor H.P.Mayer, los cuales fueron apoyados por la comisión de cultura de la ciudad de Ulm:
- 2005: "La vida es un juego de acontecimientos", según textos de Friedrich v. Schiller
- 2007: "Mi confesión", según Albert Einstein
Otros proyectos:
- 2009: Concierto conjunto con monjas tibetanas
- 8.11.2009: “La Misa Armónica“, de Joseph Haydn con el “Kanon Orchestra” de Kagoshima, Japón.
- Para 2010 se inició la organización para una gira de conciertos por Chile que tienen como objetivo el intercambio cultural con coros y músicos de ese país, y ganar al mismo tiempo impresiones de este país y su gente.
